Barossa Valley

Diary Entry 13 - Episode 12 - St. Hallett Gamekeeper's 2009 Shiraz Grenache

So I didn't plan on doing a wine review tonight. But I really wanted to have some wine. So I cracked this bottle with the intention of just enjoying it without vlogging about it, but that obviously didn't work. So here is my vlog....

I don't feel like saying to much about this since it wasn't my intention to so I feel like I've already done enough for one night. But check it out, it's a good bottle of wine. I've yet to have a bad bottle from the Barossa in Australia....they make great wines from there.

More videos to come soon. I'm in the middle of editing a bunch. Cubby and I actually went to Preston's ( here in Vancouver and scored some video reviews on their food and wine. We had a great time and LOVED the food and wine stay tuned for my "Preston's' Vlog Week". The food rocked! Go there if you haven't checked it out yet!

Ok, short and sweet from me tonight! Hope you guys are having an amazing week and stay tuned for upcoming vlogs!

Thanks for your love and support!

Diary Entry #3 - BIG Shiraz - "Punch in the Face", Barossa Valley

Ok, here is my 2nd wine review. I decided to do a Shiraz because in my first review I was saying that Malbec is "IN" and Shiraz is not...which was just a joke...I love Shiraz and I'm sure many do! So I thought I would review a shiraz this time around in hopes to redeem myself with the "Shiraz Wine Gods"...yes there is such a

My review here below...with my brother, Grant, while he was visiting me from Calgary. Check out the video! I want to point out that I'm doing my best to keep my videos completely in the moment, off the cuff and unedited. I like to do my video right when I open the wine and try it for the first time...just doing my best to keep it real and my reviews honest...and with that...sometimes I say stupid shit (and I mean that in the least self denigrating way possible) like I did in this check out the video and hope you laugh along with me and the silly things I say/do!

Ok so here is my written review of the 2008 "Punch In the Face" Shiraz by R Wines for my 'reader' wine buddies out there...

This Shiraz is from the Barossa Valley in Australia. Barossa Valley is know for their Shiraz. My suggestion is, if you're getting a shiraz, you can't go too wrong if you get one from the Barossa Valley. The  3 most well-know and famous of Australian Shiraz regions: Barossa Valley, MaClaren Vale and Hunter Valley. I'm trying to think if I've had a bad Shriaz from any of these regions, and I don't think I can.

I would describe the colour of this wine to be a deep red velvet. Lots of legs on the wine and they were quiet thick. The nose was full of ripe jammy berries and there was also some cherry notes in there as well. It's smelt soooo good!!!

I found this to be a really nice fully body wine. It was full of jammy ripe fruit. There was good length to the wine and it just seemed to roll around in my mouth. It tasted as good as it smelt...if not better! You could really taste the ripe red cherry, plum and black current. I also thought I tasted a hint of chocolate on the finish. It was very smooth, which I really like in a nice big wine. It seemed to just feel nice on the entire palate and my mouth didn't feel offended by the wine (does that even make sense?! LOL). It was not very acidic at all and had a nice smooth finish. I think you could drink this wine all on it's own or you could have it with food...I think this would be a great dinner party/finger food wine because it could go with a variety of food and I think most people would really enjoy it. I give it a 9 out of 10 for sure!

If you want to try out this wine and don't want to buy a bottle that retails for $23.99 at Liberty Wines, I believe you can go to Cactus Club and order a glass there (I if this is incorrect, let me know!)

I think that's it for this review! This Shiraz is worth checking out! Hope you give it a try! Let me know if you do and what you thought of the wine!

Thanks for checking out my blog and anther review coming later this week!

I was at Cactus Club this past weekend and you can get this Shiraz by the glass. So if you don't want to commit to trying a whole bottle, stop by Cactus and just order a glass!
